About Us

Clara Amaguru is a licensed cosmetologist, educator, entrepreneur and artist. While attending the University of Victoria and studying computer science with a minor in business, she realized that her true passion was in art. Clara had always been very creative from a young age and for her, art was an integral part of her life. Equipped with some business background, her artistic creativity and noticing a niche in the demand for quality black hair care, she started her pursuit in cosmetology. Hair would become her new canvas.

Clara has won two awards at the Natural Hair Show in Atlanta, Georgia and has become one of Vancouver’s most sought-after hairstylists in the film industry.

Some of Clara’s clients include Jason Mamoa (Stargate Atlantis), Keith Hamilton Cobb (Andromeda), Vivica Fox, Lynn Whitfield, Thandie Newton, Little Romeo (Romeo show), Grant Long (former Vancouver Grizzlies), Jensen Atwood (Noah’s Arc) and Jojo Gibbs (Fresh). Click here to learn more.

She is an artistic educator for Design Essentials, the leading multicultural hair product line from Atlanta since 2004. Her love for education led her to start professional development workshops in 1998 where she taught for the then Cosmetology Association of BC and stylists that wanted to diversify their services.

Clara has taught at Vancouver Tech and Alpha Secondary cosmetology schools. For the past two decades, she has developed and still teaches licensed stylists various techniques of hair extensions, working with textured hair, braiding, dreadlocks and cornrows. You can click here for more info.

Clara continues to learn every year attending the top conventions and classes in Atlanta, New York, Las Vegas and Los Angeles.
